Why privatising Accident Compensation (ACC), yet again, will be a disaster for injured New Zealanders

During the 1980's through to 2001 I provided rehabilitation services to Accident Compensation (ACC).  These were difficult years mostly because the terms and conditions of service to ACC were in constant change.  There was never any certainty that the flow of patient referrals would be about the same from one month to the next.  The only certainty was that the compliance costs would continue to escalate.

The most difficult period was during the late 90's when the National Government privatised ACC, opening the scheme to eight or nine private companies, including HIH which crashed spectacularly in Australia.  By 2001, I had had enough.  This video explains why privatising ACC yet again is dumb idea:
