The evidence grows that cholesterol-lowering drugs do not improve life-expectancy

"Those with the highest cholesterol levels were found to be 35 per cent less likely to die than individuals with the lowest levels. Those with persistently low levels of cholesterol were found to be at significantly increased risk of death. "
http://jeffreydach.com/2012/03/27/statin-drugs-revisited-by-jeffrey-dach-md.aspx

If you, or a loved one are on medication to reduce cholesterol, please think again.  While there may be a nominal reduction in heart attack risk, this is more than offset by the "all-causes mortality" due to the many nasty side-effects such as increased risk of cancer, infection, suicide, cardiomyopathy, muscle loss and dementia.

There are many effective alternatives to drugs for reducing heart attack risk such as Coenzyme Q-10, flax and fish oil, magnesium, Ginkgo, vitamin E and Vitamin C.

One of the most effective ways to improve your lipids profile is to cut out all the sugars and refined flour from your diet and replace with protein, natural fat, vegetables, whole grains and fresh fruit.  Ironically, that means avoiding most of the processed foods that come with the "Heart Tick"!  If it says "99% fat-free" - avoid it like the plague - it most probably is full of sugar, flour and/or toxic chemicals.  Excess carbs get converted into fats, including LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

If you do have elevated risk of heart disease, the first step is to have a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis completed.  This scientific test will help to determine the most effective dietary and supplementary intervention for your special makeup.

Getting Off Statin Drug Stories

Fat and Cholesterol Are Good For You Uffe RavnskovGetting Off Statin Drug Stories

by Jeffrey Dach MD

Case Number One, Martha
Martha is 55 years old, healthy and no history of heart disease.  Nonetheless, Martha has been taking a statin drug for "high cholesterol" under the care of "the top cardiologist" in South Florida for the  past five years.  Martha has also under my care taking a bioidentical hormone program for menopausal symnptoms which have all resolved by now.  Every six months, we run a lab panel which always shows  low choesterol of 170, courtesy of her statin anti-cholesterol drug.

Just Ask Judith Walsh MD in JAMA
And, every time Martha comes into the office to review her lab results, I print out a 2004 JAMA article by Judith Walsh, MD who reviewed thirteen statin drug clinical trials from 1966 to 2003.(1)  Dr. Judth Walsh concludes that cholesterol lowering drugs provide no health benefit for women.  I give her this article and, at the same time, explain to her that no woman should be on a statin drug.  Lowering cholesterol with a statin drug has no health benefit for women, that's a fact, and ......

Breast Cancer Prevention and Iodine Supplementation

I have always wondered why, despite how much more we know, breast cancer shows no sign of abating.  By coincidence, thyroid disease has become so common that it appears every 2nd woman over 40 has thyroid disease and on medication such as thyroxine.  A further coincidence is both these diseases are associated with iodine deficiency.  Is it also a coincidence that the increase in these diseases seems to coincide almost perfectly with the rolling out of the "No Salt" message about 30 years ago by the heart health experts?

In New Zealand, iodised salt is our main source of dietary iodine.  Eliminate the table salt and you eliminate your only source of iodine (Salt in commercially produced foods is generally lacking iodine).

Prevent one disease - Create two more:

Breast cancer and thyroid disease

This is always going to be a problem when a committee of single issue health experts shut themselves in a room and come up with a set of public health guidelines to prevent a single disease like heart attack.

An example of completely misguided but well-intentioned health advice, is the Sun Smart message.  While there may have been a marginal reduction in skin cancer, the consequent vitamin D deficiencies increase risk of at least 28 other cancers and other aliments such as depression and osteoporosis!

Single issue health policies may actually kill more than they save

I feel very sad that there is little or no interest among health advocacy agencies and medical experts in advising women (and men) to ensure they have adequate intakes of iodine.  Instead, all resources are directed at detection of disease and radical treatment - All after the Fact!  Far too late!

Early detection is not PREVENTION

Here are sources of dietary and supplementary iodine which can be added liberally and safely to your family's daily meals (Refer to the article below for guidance).

Clinicians Iodine

Himalyan Sea Salt

Here is an interesting article by Dr Dach about the iodine and breast cancer issue.

Iodine Supplements Prevent Breast Cancer

A good friend of ours just went through an ordeal with breast cancer. The incidence of breast cancer has increased to 1 in 8 women, with 4,000 new cases weekly. You might ask, could there be a preventive measure which is safe, cheap and widely available that has been overlooked? The answer is YES , and it’s the essential mineral, Iodine , which was added to table salt in 1924 as part of a national program to prevent Goiter. It turns out that this same Iodine in table salt is the key to breast cancer prevention

Cancer Breakthrough with Spontaneous Remission

Cancer Breakthrough with lab mice spontaneous regression cancerSpontaneous Remission
by Jeffrey Dach MD

Injecting cancer into mice is a major activity at Wake Forest Medical School in North Carolina, keeping students busy with many publications over the years. Injecting the cancer cells prompty kills the mouse, but first, the mouse makes fluid in the abdomen, also called ascites.

Chance Favors the Prepared Mind - Luis Pasteur

Then one day, a medical student injected a mouse and noticed something strange happened. What happened? Nothing. The mouse didn't get cancer, and no fluid in the abdomen. The first mouse that could kill cancer was discovered.

Spontaneous Regression of Cancer in the Mouse

Once identified as a "cancer killing" mouse, the little furry fellow was earmarked for study. These were exciting times in the lab. Researchers in the lab asked some urgent questions. Why didn't this mouse get cancer and ascites like all the others? How was this mouse able to resist injected cancer cells? What was the mechanism for the rejection of the cancer cells?

Over the next 3 years, research studies showed these mice are immune to cancer, a trait innate to this SR/CR strain.

Gary Moller comments:
Dr Dach has to be one of the most interesting and insightful medical commentators around.
He refers to Interleukin 2 (IL-2). While I can not offer exactly what he is referring to, I have Brauer IL-2 here in homeopathic doses. It is completely safe to administer to even very sick people - because it is merely a signaling device. Please refer here for more information about IL-2. The person takes several drops per day. It does not replace medical treatment; at the same time it will not interfere with any treatment - it is complementary.
If anybody is interested in a course of IL-2, please write to me here. Depending on need, it may be best combined with Reparen.
