Mammograms Find Tiny Tumors But Are They Deadly?

A new study adds to the confusing questions about mammograms and how many lives they save.
It found that while mammograms do indeed find breast tumors when they are very small and presumably the easiest to treat, widespread breast cancer screening doesn't necessarily lower the overall death rate from breast cancer or even cut back on the number of biggest breast tumors found later.
"We found that counties with the most screening had substantially more breast cancers being diagnosed," said Charles Harding, a Seattle data analyst who worked with a team at Harvard and Dartmouth universities on the study.

An example of how breast disease has been reversed and is now healthy

Breast thermogram: Before and after
Here's some feedback from a woman who has had a worrying brush with breast disease:

"Hey Gary just have to tell someone - today I got results of my latest thermogram, first one since starting on your treatment and one of the main reasons I contacted you.  Prior to this I've had 3 tests, each one I was given a BIRAS 3 and they stressed that I was nearer 4 than 2 and I had to go back every 6 months to keep an eye on what they could see.  The reports were lengthy and talked about vascularisation and lymphatic congestion.  Anyway, with my family history etc I've been aiming for a BIRAS 2, but I got a 1!!  And nothing else to report, they recommended a 2 yearly followup.  I'm really pleased.

Many thanks"
(Name withheld)

Gary:
This woman's results are not unusual but I do not go out of my way to shout the results, mainly because it is a touchy subject - women's breasts are a billion dollar industry and there are powerful monopolies of the lucrative breast supply that I would be wise not to antagonise.

An example of inflammation affecting the upper body
including breasts.  Is the bra a factor?
I won't go into detail about what we did; but the focus was on removing the root cause of most breast disease which is INFLAMMATION!

Guess what comes before the disease:

Inflammation - of course!  But there is no money in treating root causes of disease.  The real money comes after the horse has bolted.  So, it is normal, if, for example, an abnormality is detected on a mammogram, for the woman to be told to go away and wait. It is only when the abnormality has become a life-threatening disease that treatment is offered.  Crazy, if you ask me!

How to take positive breast health action

What we do is try to figure out the root causes of any health issues, rather than run around like headless chooks chasing symptoms.  So first step is to do a health stock take:

  1. Get a breast thermogram (not a mammogram) http://blog.garymoller.com/2012/09/breast-thermography-taking-control-of.html
  2. Get a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis http://www.garymoller.com/Products/Products/H/Hair-Tissue-Mineral-Analysis-Profile-Two.aspx
  3. Then consult with Gary Moller to work out what to do  http://www.garymoller.com/Consultation/Private-Consultation.aspx

Wishing you good health.

Breast Thermography - Taking Control of Your Breast Health

Thermogram showing vascular patterns within the breast,
as well as patterns of warm and cold.  Repeats accurately
track changes, including the effects of any interventions.
Breast thermography is a valuable non-invasive tool for predicting breast cancer risk and monitoring changes to breast health. While it is useful for all women, it is especially useful for young women and those with small breasts.

Breast cancer and other breast diseases have become a tremendous issue in women's health today, particularly in advanced industrialized nations. A procedure which has gone largely unnoticed is Breast Thermography, also known as Breast Thermal Imaging.

Breast thermography promises the opportunity of earlier detection of breast disease than has been possible with breast self examination, physician palpation, or mammography. Thermography identifies the extra heat that inflammation and development of new blood vessels causes, therefore earlier detection of the development of tumours is possible.

This wonderful service is now available to New Zealand women through Clinical Thermography at many locations. Women who want to take a proactive approach to their breast health find great value in the additional information provided by thermography.

Many of my female clients have had thermograms, including repeats.  I think I can say that all of them, without exception, have found the service and the test extremely useful - and, might I add: Empowering!

Book your thermogram right now by going here:

Breast Cancer Awareness: don’t be driven by fear

It has been said by some independent health researchers that as many as 75% of all of the cancers we are now experiencing are preventable, yet the cancer industry merely pays lip service to primary prevention while focussing on early detection, which is not prevention.  The cancer industry makes billions of dollars from exorbitantly expensive screening programmes and even more expensive and highly invasive drugs, surgery and cancer-causing radiation, all of which are after the fact and all the while playing on our fears and good intentions, compelling us to dig deep and donate more and more money towards the search for the "CURE".

As many as 90% of women who underwent breast cancer procedures may have received more harm than benefit.
http://blog.garymoller.com/2012/12/30-years-of-breast-screening-13-million.html

Please be clear about my position:  I am very much in favour of research into the root causes of disease and into primary prevention.  But I do have serious concerns that the people are being duped into not only emptying their pockets, but also laying their bodies on the operating table for little or no health benefit.

The cancer industry thrives on disease growth - not disease reduction

Of course there will never be a cure simply because cancer is caused by a myriad of factors that a single intervention will never be effective against on it own.  In my opinion we already know enough to prevent the majority of cancers and until there is more balanced allocation of the billions of Government and donor dollars for TRUE cancer prevention and not just for more research and after the fact treatment, I will not be supporting any cancer fund-raising efforts, including the vast Pink Ribbon corporation.  Especially when these fundraising campaigns use fear to prey upon people.

Hi gary,
Breast Cancer Awareness: don’t be driven by fear
By Trudy Scott, CN (Certified Nutritionist)

Dr. Nalini Chilkov's new book

October is Breast Cancer awareness month so here are 7 resources to keep you informed, hopeful and inspired to take charge of your overall health and breast health - for prevention and healing!

#1 Reduce stress in your life. Here is a blog post I wrote in 2010 with information from my colleague Ellyn Hilliard: 10 Unique Ways to Support You During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Reduce the stresses in your life. Calm the nervous system. Meditate, go on a walk...

Start to look at chemicals in your life. Find natural alternatives to cleaning products.
#2 Exercise to prevent cancer and have fun at the same time

up to a third of breast cancer cases in Western countries could be avoided with a nutritious diet and exercise

If exercise is a chore, find something fun to do and it will be a totally different experience
#3 Be aware that a lot of pinkwashing goes on - it's quite awful how people are being taken advantage of. And know there is so much you can do that is healing and preventative. You can read more here: Pinkwashing for the cure (ridiculous!) or green for prevention?

Pinkwasher: (pink'-wah-sher) noun. A company or organization that claims to care about breast cancer by promoting a pink ribbon product, but at the same time produces, manufactures and/or sells products that are linked to the disease.Helyane Waldman's book "The Whole-Food Guide for Breast Cancer Survivors: A Nutritional Approach to Preventing Recurrence"Rebecca Katz's "The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen: Nourishing, Big-Flavor Recipes for Cancer Treatment and Recovery"
#4 Ann Louise Gittleman, author of The Fat Flush Diet and Get the Sugar Out, just posted a great blog on how to become a breast health warrior

Raise your daily Vitamin D intake (D is like a hormone rather than a vitamin) to at least 1,000 - 4,000 IU to reach a level of at least 52 ng/mL. Women with serum levels at <13 ng/mL level had a 50% higher risk than those with levels of 52 ng/mL.Get the Sugar Out! Plain and simple, cancer feeds on sugar which is known to immobilize white blood cells for up to five hours.
#5 Dr Nalini Chilkov is my cancer referral source and she has a new cancer booklet called 32 Ways to OutSmart Cancer. It has beautiful back-to-basics advice about eating nourishing nutrient-dense, antioxidant- and polyphenol-rich real whole food. I especially like the section on herbs and spices and love the chapter on gratitude. Here is a yummy salmon recipe from her blog

#6 Be hopeful and optimistic. My colleague Fran Sussman shares her journey and story of recovery from breast cancer in this article called I am a breast cancer survivor: There is hope. Fran will be offering six-week support classes for women diagnosed with breast cancer starting in December.

I've come through it, with great resilience and rebounding health. I feel better than ever post-breast cancer, at age 60. I am healthy; my doctors concur. What can you do for prevention? Support your body with optimal nutrition, exercise, sleep and hydration. Use nutrition to minimize inflammation and insulin resistance.Acknowledge and work with your fear, but don't be driven by it.
#7 And my final piece of advice is stated so beautifully by Fran: "Acknowledge and work with your fear, but don't be driven by it." Anxiety and depression is very common in people who have been diagnosed with cancer so look for and get support in this area too, so you are not driven by your fear.

You may need to address low GABA levelskeep your blood sugar stable with good quality protein at breakfast, support your adrenals, and drink calming carob instead of coffee.

Join us on The Anxiety Summit, Nov 3-16, and learn more about nutritional and natural solutions for anxiety - many of which improve overall health and wellbeing too.

My nutrition recommendations for a long and healthy life, free of disease

Drawn by the brilliant Mr Colin Livingstone
I thought I'd share a morsel of what I am learning about nutrition and health, including two pieces of compulsory reading to ensure a long and healthy life that is free of disease, including cancer, dementia, heart problems, fatigue, infections and so on and so on.

If you like what you learn please pass this onto your loved ones and get them to act on it, thanks.

Compulsory Reading:

The Iodine Crisis: What You Don't Know About Iodine Can Wreck Your Life
By Lynne Farrow

and

The Mammogram Myth: The Independent Investigation Of Mammography The Medical Profession Doesn't Want You To Know About
By Rolf Hefti

The message in this book applies to all and not just to do with women and mammograms.  It is relevant to the message in the iodine book.

If you read just one, it must be the iodine e-book which I recommend you read carefully and then please put into action her recommendations.

I now have in stock full strength Lugol's iodine (4 drips = 1mg).  Don't use the watered down iodine which is ineffective.  Add to it cofactors which can be in the form of Daily C and Dr Wilson's Super Adrenal Stress Formula and 4,000iu per day of Vitamin D3 (Do not take D2 which can cause toxicity!).  I have these here.

(Note: Some of these products, such as full strength iodine, can only be dispensed in NZ by a qualified health professional, so you may require a consultation with me before they can be purchased).

One of the most exciting recent developments for me is the new nutrition science of Systemic Enzymes.  Please do your own research into these.  It is exciting and the results I am getting with people is gobsmackingly encouraging.  There are countless beneficial actions by these enzymes (of which there are thousands within the body).  How they work is well researched and understood and their benefits are more potent as we get older and less well:

Of particular interest are the following enzyme preparations which play a role in removing dead tissue, including old scars from deep within the body, reversing damage to muscles, ligaments and joints, smoothing the inner lining of damaged blood vessels, removing old blood clots and so on:

AST Serrapeptase
 and
AST Serracor

I now have the full range of high quality AST Enzymes here and can help you decide what is the most suitable combination for you and in what dosage.  You can buy these online; but getting them from me works out at just about the same, if not better, and you have the bonus of getting my personal input to ensure you are getting it right for your special circumstances.

Enjoy your studies and please give what I am recommending a go, then tell me your conclusions after three months of consistent application.

Hey - Young people, just because you are a fraction my age it does not mean this does not apply to you.  Take iodine for example:  More than 90% of you are deficient in iodine.  Optimising your iodine improves your energy and mental clarity, it protects you from viral and fungal infections, including foul body odour.  Your children will be born with an IQ 10-20 points higher than yours (read the e-book).  You'll have stronger muscles and smooth, clear skin!

Radiation Alert: More evidence that CT Scans cause cancer

"Let's play Fry Teddie"
"While CT scans have the potential for great benefits, they increase the risk of developing cancer; in many cases, an MRI or an ultrasound can provide similar information without this risk.  In this study, for lag (exclusion) period of one, five, and 10 years, the incidence rate for all cancers combined increased by 24%, 21%, and 18% respectively in the CT exposed group.  Eventual lifetime risk is likely to climb with longer followup."

http://gutsandgrowth.wordpress.com/2013/07/12/risk-from-ct-scans-best-data-to-date/

The take home message is this:

Refuse CT scans

Ask for the much safer options of a MRI or ultrasound.  In many medical cases, any scan is unnecessary.  CT scans are over-used with them being employed mostly for "fishing expeditions".

I am reading an academic dissertation at the moment about mamograms and the cancer industry that has gown up around them (More about this in another article once I have finished reading it).

There is growing evidence that as many as 75% of all beast cancers are the consequence of medical and dental x-rays, including mamogram screening.  It may be as long as 10-40 years before the damage caused by an x-ray procedure expresses as a cancer.  All the x-rays that the population has been repeatedly and increasingly subjected to since the 1950's has been accumulating as population lifetime risks (Think dental, bone scans, CT scans, mamograms and even airport body scanners!).

If the cancer risk for a mamogram is 1:1,000 and 250,000 women are irradiated, that will amount to an additional 25,000 cases of cancer over the lifetime of all those women.   We are now seeing this statistical risk as reality as successive echelons of repeatedly irradiated women march into old age: breast and other female cancers are now expressing themselves as an epidemic from young to old.

"Mammography screening for breast cancer has significant drawbacks, and expected survival benefits have not materialized"

More and more research nails are being hammered into the coffin of breast screening and the subsequent treatments.  The following article by Dr Dach is a must read for everyone.

There are links to other articles at the end of this post that will help readers with deciding what to do if they have concerns about breast cancer risk and prevention.

A Closer Look at Screening Mammography
Dr Laura Esserman of the University of California startled the medical community with an article questioning screening mammography published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA ).  Dr Laura Esserman reviewed 20 years of breast cancer data.  Her conclusion is not favorable:
"Mammography screening for breast cancer has significant drawbacks, and expected survival benefits have not materialized. "
"While the incidence of early stage breast cancer has decreased due to mammography, the incidence rates for the killer cancers, (the advanced cancers) have remained stable.  While it is true that overall mortality rates have declined slightly, this is attributed to better treatment rather than increased detection."
Dr Laura Esserman.
Let's take a look at the Data Charts Dr Esserman used for her JAMA Article. ( Below Image Courtesy of Rethinking Screening for Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer Laura Esserman, MD, JAMA. 2009;302(15):1685-1692.)
Breast Cancer Data Laura Esserman Jama
The above chart shows the critical information in Dr Esserman's JAMA article.  The Pink line is TOTAL breast cancer incidence annually.  Note increase beginning in 1983 with introduction of mammography screening.  Below the pink line, we see three more lines: this is the breakdown of the total incidence into localized, regional and metastatic cases.  The turquoise line is localized cancer. The light purple line is regional cancer and the black line (lowest) is metastatic cancer.  The killer cancers are the regional and metastatic cases.  Note that these numbers have remained stable with little change in spite of detection of massive numbers of localized cases

Images of dramatic improvements in fibrocystic breast disease, a known precursor to breast cancer

Here are the before and after images of thermograms of a woman's breasts (one of my clients), showing dramatic improvements in fibrocystic breast disease, a known precursor to breast cancer.  Thermography is a totally safe, non-invasive means of breast health imaging that is suitable for women of all ages.

First Image taken May 2011
This is a thermogram image showing
inflammation in the left upper breast.
(Green, Yellow and spots of red)
This woman was in considerable pain most days with very tender lumpy breasts.

Second Image taken Nov 2011

After applying iodine nightly to her breasts and having lymphatic drainage massage treatments her breasts felt 'wonderful' and the thermal images show far healthier heat patterns.  The inflammation is gone.

If you, or a loved one, are interested in screening services in your region, or a consultation about what you can do to improve breast health, please feel free to contact me.  It would be most helpful to have completed a thermogram.  Refer to the brochure below:
