Snow in Wellington August 2011

We have never seen anything like this in over 40 years (living memory). As I type the snow still falls. It is beautiful. At the same time it is a sobering reminder of global warming: Put more energy in the pot and you get more swirling of the contents. Globally, this means more and more extremes in weather.

it certainly is cold, but it snowed a lot more in Wellington in Sept 2002 and it has snowed more at least 3 times in the past 20 years - I'd say it's not a reminded of global warming which is utter rubbish - if anything it's a reminder that the earth is only around 1000 years away from it's default ice age state which it will be in for the next 115000 years

I have been in Wgtn for 30yrs and my partner 45yrs. Neither of us have ever experienced anything like this and for such a long time. And its not over.

Even if there is no man-made global warming, it is very selfish of us to squander non-renewable resources the way we are. What harm is there in conserving energy, harnessing renewables while saving scarce resources for future generations?

conserving energy on a personal level also means we do not have to work so hard because our living costs are lower than they would otherwise be.
