James McCormack, Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia, has produced an entertaining video“Bohemian Polypharmacy” – a parody of Queen’s classic song “Bohemian Rhapsody” – a song all about polypharmacy – taking more medicines than are clinically indicated.
Polypharmacy, as well as the lazy and ignorant prescribing of singular medications, is now widespread in New Zealand, making us one of the most heavily medicated nations in the world! Which is appalling for a country that prides itself on its clean, green outdoors and healthy lifestyle - all fantasy - of course!
I would like to see the Good Professor produce a parody musical video extolling the virtues of non-drug treatments of modern ailments such as diabetes, high blood pressure and depression.

Gary, do you advise Flu Jab?

If you put aside "political" and financial biases, the evidence for the flu jab is not good.
Take particular note of the Cochrane report with the article a Dr wrote for my blog (refer links to articles below).
But; first, I must digress by asking you a question....
Who do you take your health advice from?
I appreciate that you, the consumer, are in a most unenviable situation where you are inundated with conflicting advice from people like me who use nutrition to improve health and from medical experts who try to cure ill health with drugs: People like Dr Stewart Jessamine, the head of Medsafe and chief apologist for the country's increasing dependence on drugs. Do drugs make us a healthier population? Why do these people constantly rubbish natural therapies?
Hardly a week passes without a doctor somewhere saying somthing like these to one of my clients:
"If you continue to take those vitamins from Gary Moller, I will not treat you"
"Those pills are dangerous/ineffective - take these drugs instead"
"Gary Moller is a charlatan"
"Gary Moller's tests are a load of rubbish"
"Its expensive urine"
Who is right? Who do we believe? Who do we go with? Is Gary an unscientific charlatan?
When it comes to health, how does your doctor measure up?
A message to Dr Jessamine:Dear Dr Jessamine,

When it comes to health, do you walk the talk? Are you healthier than me? Okay - about as healthy as me will do.
Would you please be so kind and share with my readers your personal health stats. After all, you are the health expert who is telling the rest of us how to be healthy, while spending a billion or more of our hard-earned dollars each year on drugs like Tamiflu. It is reasonable for the public to expect you to walk the talk - To put into practice, personally, all that you know about being healthy. I am sure you will agree with that.

| Is Gary Moller healthy? |
So please share with us:
- How old are you?
- What's your blood pressure?
- What's your body composition (muscle, bone, fat, water)?
- How are your joints?
- Have you any health issues?
- Do you take any medication?
- Have you had any surgery?
To be fair here are my health stats:
- I am 60 years old.
- my blood pressure is 120/80 and I can red line my heart at about 170 beats per minutes for at least two continuous hours.
- I weigh 63 Kg, 9% fat, 44% muscle, 3.1 Kg bone and 63% water.
- I have excellent joints.
- I take no medication.
- I had a knee operation about 30 years ago with 100% recovery.
- I work very long hours without fatigue.
Check your own doctor out:
Does he or she walk the talk? Is your doctor in better health than you? If not, I suggest you run for the door! The Tamiflu scandal
For years, a number of independent health researchers advised against NZ and other countries stockpiling millions of dollars of Tamiflu and warned that these drugs are not harmless while being of questionable effectiveness. They were more than ignored by those with their grip on the health purse strings: Anybody, including myself, who they saw as getting in their way, were publicly labelled as nutters, irresponsible and even dangerous.
Here are some articles that I have written about Tamiflu over previous years:
How wrong they were and how right the others were! Read this:
Study casts doubt on Tamiflu value
New Zealand will maintain its $32 million stockpile of influenza medicine Tamiflu, despite a major international study throwing doubt on the on the value of the treatment.
When you read the Stuff article, notice how the "establishment" experts and the drugs company executives are scrambling to justify their wasting of millions of our dollars and endangering the safety of the public.
Here's the Cochrane Study if you want to read it for yourself:
Here's the Cochrane Study if you want to read it for yourself:
You and I have paid millions of dollars for these mostly useless drugs and vaccines. We get poor through wasted tax dollars fattening Big Pharma waistlines and risk harm if we take these drugs..
There are very good healthy alternatives to drugs to reduce harm caused by flu; but these never get any traction simply because there is no money in them for Big Pharma and the current flawed drugs-based medical paradigm sees these healthy non-drugs measures as being the enemy - which is utterly ridiculous!
Here is what I have written previously about the Flu Jab:

Polypill set to combat killer condition - Or will it slowly kill thousands more people?
"Trials of the polypill will start in NZ after an Indian study offered convincing results.
Auckland University and New Zealand patients are trialling a pill which could prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths from heart disease, the biggest killer across the Western world.
The five-in-one polypill, which combines well-known medicines in lower doses, has been shown to be safe and effective in its first trials on humans. Researchers estimate that the single pill would reduce heart disease and risk of stroke by over 80 per cent in middle aged and older people. The medication contains a combination of aspirin, three drugs that lower blood pressure and a statin, the drug that lowers levels of cholesterol."
..."Researchers were desperate for trial participants aged between 50 and 70."

Gary responds:
In my daily work, I see chronic ill health that is drugs induced. Clinical trials on poor Indians, funded by the drugs industry and publicised by compliant media do nothing to change my view that this Polypill is nothing other than a dangerous extension of plans to snare every human being into the pharmaceutical net.
The Polypill is a mix of dangerous drugs that have well documented adverse side effects. While there may be a slight decrease in heart attack risk, this is far cancelled out by increased risks of many other ailments including cancer, septicemia, impotence and dementia.
If a clinical trial shows a 2% stroke rate in the medicated group as compared to 4% in the control group, the researchers will claim a halving of stroke risk. Of course, this is a misleading claim; but one that mainstream media grabs onto with glee.
High blood pressure is usually the result of an imbalance in the body as is high cholesterol. These drugs do nothing at all to address the underlying health issues that cause these ailments. All they do is mask the symptoms (high blood pressure, cholesterol etc) while the disease process quietly percoloates away to the stage where it becomes next to untreatable.
If you are considering entering the New Zealand trial, why not consider the natural health"Poly" alternatives: Vitamin E, vitamin C, Lysine and fish oil mixed with a generous helping of fresh fruit and vegetables. And a little refreshing exercise - outdoors, of course!

Adrenal fatigue - Is it a lesser form of Addisons Disease or Bunkum?

"It is being called the plague of the 21st century - a condition that has reached epidemic proportions. If you crave coffee and can't relax without a wine, you could be a sufferer of Adrenal fatigue. It is said to occur when the body is overwhelmed by stress. While some people swear its reaching crisis point, others argue it doesn't even exist.
Live debate with Associate Professor of Medicine at the Dunedin School of Medicine, Dr Patrick Manning and from the United States Dr James L Wilson visiting New Zealand for the first time. It is his company that produces the supplements designed to combat adrenal fatigue." Quoted from TV One Close Up

Gary comments:
Adrenal fatigue is a medical condition that was recognised by just about every doctor until abou
t mid way through last century. It ceased to be taught in the medical schools coinciding with the advent of patentable medicines for the most extreme form of the condition: Addisons Disease - complete failure of the adrenal glands.
Incidentally, I first learned about adrenal fatique from a South African doctor about 20 years ago. And I am about to attend a practitioner's training course on adrenal fatigue by Dr James Wilson.
Most disease, including Addisons, have a progressive development that is called Adrenal Fatigue. The treatment of adrenal fatique to stop the progression towards Addisons Disease is through lifestyle and natural therapies, including some supplementation. This may include adrenal extracts, some minerals and vitamins, none of which can be patented by the pharmaceutical industry.
You may think that lack of recognition of adrenal fatigue, even by those at the professorial level of medicine, is scandalous. You may be right!
Thusday 6th November
For everything that you need to know about adrenal fatigue, please go to this excellent New Zealand website. Dr Wilson's book on adrenal fatigue is a must read publication for patients and health practitioners. Having met him in person, I can assure readers that his depth of knowledge and understanding of human physiology is remarkable. His book is available through me at a very good price. Please go to my web store or contact me by email to purchase.

Hospitals - Toxic Workplaces?
"W" who works within the NZ hospital system writes:

The fatal mistake the west has made is wedding itself to expensive treatments then its focus gets political to maintain the funding to keep the expensive systems. Most people grow up and see the hospitals as the only answer when you get really sick. Its so hard wired into their brains - big centers with lots of machines electronics and chemicals are the way to treat serious conditions.
The most important treatment centre starts at the fruit and veg shop and the bulk buy shops. and the health shops. If doctors prescribed fresh fruit, veges, whole food, we would only need hospitals a fraction of the size we have.
I stare out my window at the back of XXX Hospital and look at the main building which has just had two floors added to it. XXX Hospital is due to double in size. And on and on it goes. Auckland hospital is a city in itself.
If people think medical science holds all the answers then they are consigning themselves to early graves and lives full of far more suffering than they should ever have to endure.
Hospitals are just very crude factories processing people as fast as possible, treating symptoms, sticking bandaids on gaping wounds that can't be seen because they are metabolic in nature, caused by incorrect lifestyle heavily influenced by Western beliefs and marketing hype.
Even the health food industry has a lot to answer for trying to label everything possible as a health food. When it has added empty calories in a great deal of its products.
Having come through 12 years of chronic fatigue, I'm better than I have ever been since I was a teenager. And I know that it is not just a case of patient heal thyself, it is up to the patient find the answers and apply them to thyself. I sent a message to my boss about how to alleviate her high blood pressure through conventional methods and included an official result from a health test I had showing my low blood pressure when once I had high blood pressure myself. I received no response whatsoever, these people condemn themselves to an early grave through their narrow minds

I could not have said this better. Thanks "W". I once had a physiotherapist friend (Sadly she passed away prematurely cancer) who commented that Wellington Hospital was a toxic workplace! I am no fan of hospitals and the over-reliance on pharmaceuticals. The health system, as it is structured and and funded is distorting health care.

Tufts Researchers Find That Omega-3's Can Reduce Risk Of Cardiovascular Disease
A comprehensive review of published clinical studies by research associates at Tufts-New
England Medical Center has found that increased consumption of DHA and EPA (omega-3's), "reduces the rates of all-cause mortality, cardiac and sudden death, and possibly stroke."
...... Studies published in peer-reviewed journals have reported that patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and depression may be deficient in vital nutrients: omega-3, folic acid, and vitamins B6 and B12. According to Dr. Barbara Levine of Weill Cornell Medical College, "Increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA and EPA, has been clinically shown to reduce severity of these diseases, so that patients are often able to reduce or eliminate medications that have serious adverse reactions."
Many doctors are now using Animi-3, a prescription-only product with specially formulated and highly refined omega-3 fatty acids, folic acid, B6, and B12.

Gary Moller comments:
This is an interesting report, not because it is telling us what we already know (Omega-3 oils reduce heart diease, stroke, depression etc, or that B vitamins are equally important for health); but that it shows the insidious process that is happening, driven by big business to "medicalise" and therefore capture and control natural nutritional substances by way of packaging them into prescription only medicines, like the Animi-3 pill.
This process of medicalisation of nutrition should be regarded with horror and revulsion by all. First of all, good nutrition does not come via a pill - it comes from the widespread availability of fresh and affordable foods and encouraging their consumption. Only then would one supplement. Supplementation is wise in instances where there are either deficiencies of a nutrient in food sources, or where there is an additional need of the person, such as during illness or heavy exercise, or chronic depletion.
What we do know about any substance that is dispensed by way of prescription, is the cost goes right through the roof; especially when we factor in the bureacracy hiding behind the scenes of the prescription industry and the compulsory 5 minute appointment with the Dr to get the pill (most likely it will be the synthetic version of the natural nutrient). Government subsidy or not we the public pay one way or another.
Its lunchtime now, so I will sign off now and go eat my $1.99 can of Omega-3 rich sardines, plus a few 15 cents NZ Kiwi Fruit.
