Is it time to scrap mammogram breast screening?

"We're told breast screening saves lives. But that is only one side of the picture.
It also results in some women being treated unnecessarily. That treatment could be breast removal or radiotherapy.
For every life saved by screening, more lives are potentially harmed.
So are New Zealand women being told the whole story?"

I've been saying this for years: "Breast mammograms are largely a waste of time, subjecting thousands of women to cancer-causing radiation and to unnecessary radical medical interventions, including mastectomy, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, due to overdiagnosis".

This view is based on careful reading of the growing body of evidence that these breast screening programmes do more harm than good.

Here is the link to some of the articles I have written.

An example of how breast disease has been reversed and is now healthy

Breast thermogram: Before and after
Here's some feedback from a woman who has had a worrying brush with breast disease:

"Hey Gary just have to tell someone - today I got results of my latest thermogram, first one since starting on your treatment and one of the main reasons I contacted you.  Prior to this I've had 3 tests, each one I was given a BIRAS 3 and they stressed that I was nearer 4 than 2 and I had to go back every 6 months to keep an eye on what they could see.  The reports were lengthy and talked about vascularisation and lymphatic congestion.  Anyway, with my family history etc I've been aiming for a BIRAS 2, but I got a 1!!  And nothing else to report, they recommended a 2 yearly followup.  I'm really pleased.

Many thanks"
(Name withheld)

Gary:
This woman's results are not unusual but I do not go out of my way to shout the results, mainly because it is a touchy subject - women's breasts are a billion dollar industry and there are powerful monopolies of the lucrative breast supply that I would be wise not to antagonise.

An example of inflammation affecting the upper body
including breasts.  Is the bra a factor?
I won't go into detail about what we did; but the focus was on removing the root cause of most breast disease which is INFLAMMATION!

Guess what comes before the disease:

Inflammation - of course!  But there is no money in treating root causes of disease.  The real money comes after the horse has bolted.  So, it is normal, if, for example, an abnormality is detected on a mammogram, for the woman to be told to go away and wait. It is only when the abnormality has become a life-threatening disease that treatment is offered.  Crazy, if you ask me!

How to take positive breast health action

What we do is try to figure out the root causes of any health issues, rather than run around like headless chooks chasing symptoms.  So first step is to do a health stock take:

  1. Get a breast thermogram (not a mammogram) http://blog.garymoller.com/2012/09/breast-thermography-taking-control-of.html
  2. Get a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis http://www.garymoller.com/Products/Products/H/Hair-Tissue-Mineral-Analysis-Profile-Two.aspx
  3. Then consult with Gary Moller to work out what to do  http://www.garymoller.com/Consultation/Private-Consultation.aspx

Wishing you good health.

Can you see where this lady kept her cellphone?

The first image shows the vascular changes in the area where she kept her phone tucked into her bra.  Not good!

The second image is of one of my clients with painful fibrocystic breast disease affecting her left breast.  Incidentally, you will note that this "hot spot" would probably be missed by a mammogram, if she had one.  The third image is of her breast a year later, showing the wonderful benefits of the interventions we used with her.

Regardless of age and family history; if you are concerned about the health of your breasts, the first action is to arrange to have a breast thermogram.  A thermogram, unlike mammograms, is completely non-invasive and carries absolutely no risk of radiation induced cancer.  Thermograms are sophisticated infrared imaging of the breasts.  Unlike mammograms, the thermogram is your first tool for detecting inflammation in the breast, your precursor to breast cancer.

Have you ever wondered what comes before the cancer?
In most cases, its inflammation!

Here is just about everything you ever wanted to know about iodine and health!

I am now able to provide accurate iodine testing for my clients.
http://blog.garymoller.com/2013/09/accurate-thyrodine-iodine-testing-is.html

The following is gleaned from sources such as:
http://doudyeissa.blogspot.co.nz/

Iodine was once a common ingredient in many foods such as bread. Iodine was removed from our breads  a few decades ago and replaced with Bromine. Bromine worsens iodine-deficiency problems because it inhibits absorption of iodine in the body. It is also a known carcinogen, along with the other halides, chlorine and fluorine which are in most water supplies.  Chlorine, bromine and fluorine are now found everywhere, including in plastics,.

Iodine is a body detoxifier. It has been proven to detoxify the body by flushing the following harmful substances out of the body:

– Bromine
– Fluoride
– Chlorine
– Mercury
– Lead
– Aluminum
– Cadmium

Iodine deficiency is linked to the following:

– Thyroid disease
– Prostate cancer
– Breast cancer
– Ovarian cancer
– Endometrial cancer
– Ovarian cysts
– Fibrocystic Breast Disease
- Fibromyalgia (strong evidence supports fibromyalgia is simply iodine deficiency)

Iodine is not toxic to normal cells but is toxic to cancer cells
In addition to causing cancer, an iodine deficiency will cause existing cancer to be more aggressive. Iodine is responsible for controlled cell death - a normal, necessary function of out bodies. Iodine plays a huge role in keeping cells in check so they don't grow out of control and overtake the body. Cancer cells are cells that keep growing and don't die! (thus lumps/tumors)

Iodine deficiency seems like a logical explanation for cancer

Coincidentally, Japanese women have lower rates of breast, endometrial and ovarian cancers as well as fibrocystic breast disease. Go figure! Their diets are loaded with iodine from fish and seaweed!

Suspect Iodine deficiency whenever there are unwanted lumps, bumps and hard things!

Iodine supplementation improves / cures the following:

- Thinning hair / hair loss
– Fatigue / tiredness
– Feeling cold
– Brain fog / memory problems
- Muscle pain
- Basically all symptoms of hypothyroidism!

More Benefits of Iodine

A healthy intake of iodine helps in maintaining shiny skin, teeth and hair. Lack of iodine in the body can not only cause hair fall, but also restrain hair growth.

One of the most prominent benefits of iodine is that it influences the functioning of the thyroid gland, thereby increasing the production of the hormone. This increased production of thyroid hormone is directly proportional to the basic metabolic rate. It influences the heart rate, blood pressure, body weight and temperature and also helps in protein synthesis.

Less intake of iodine leads to loss in energy levels and the feeling of being lethargic. Iodine helps in optimum utilization of calories without allowing deposit of excessive fats, thereby raising the energy levels.

The presence of iodine in the body helps in ensuring the apoptosis or programmed cell death, which is essential in the formation of new organs as well as in the removal of malignant cells, like cancer cells or diseased cells.

7 Signs of Iodine Deficiency

Iodine deficiency is a serious problem in the developing world but many Europeans and North Americans are also deficient. Iodine consumption has decreased by about 50% in the United States since the early part of the 20th century.
If you are experiencing any of the below symptoms, you may want to have your thyroid tested as well as your iodine levels and then, after speaking with your doctor, consider whether adding extra iodine to your diet would be beneficial.

  • Hypothyroidism
Low iodine levels can lead to hypothyroidism. This is because iodine regulates thyroid hormones in the body.
Fatigue
  • Fatigue
is a common symptom of iodine deficiency and hypothyroidism.
  • Weight Gain
Low iodine levels can cause weight gain. Weight gain may be one of the early warning signs of hypothyroidism.

  • Depression
Like fatigue and weight gain, depression is a common symptom of hypothyroidism caused by iodine deficiency.
  • Goiter
When iodine levels in the body are too low, the thyroid can enlarge. An enlarged thyroid is referred to as a goiter.
  • Fibrocystic Breast Disease
Research indicates that iodine deficiency may be responsible for fibrocystic breast disease, a condition in which painful but benign lumps develop in the breasts that can worsen with hormonal fluctuations.
  • Pregnancy Complications
Iodine deficiency in pregnant women can lead to complications including miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery and birth defects

Images of dramatic improvements in fibrocystic breast disease, a known precursor to breast cancer

Here are the before and after images of thermograms of a woman's breasts (one of my clients), showing dramatic improvements in fibrocystic breast disease, a known precursor to breast cancer.  Thermography is a totally safe, non-invasive means of breast health imaging that is suitable for women of all ages.

First Image taken May 2011
This is a thermogram image showing
inflammation in the left upper breast.
(Green, Yellow and spots of red)
This woman was in considerable pain most days with very tender lumpy breasts.

Second Image taken Nov 2011

After applying iodine nightly to her breasts and having lymphatic drainage massage treatments her breasts felt 'wonderful' and the thermal images show far healthier heat patterns.  The inflammation is gone.

If you, or a loved one, are interested in screening services in your region, or a consultation about what you can do to improve breast health, please feel free to contact me.  It would be most helpful to have completed a thermogram.  Refer to the brochure below:
