Is there a common link between acidity, cancer, yeast, fungus and viruses?

"My skin doctor reckons the fungus/skin cancers idea is rubbish?  Those things on your skin maybe a fungus?"
B

Gary:
Hmmm..  If that's the case, then I should change my own skin specialist who has been burning precancerous solar kerastoses off my hands, ears and forehead over the last decade!

But, maybe there is a link between cancer and fungus, just as there is known link between cancer and viruses, like the warts virus.  Some doctors are convinced that cancers are caused by viruses and there are some who believe that cancers are a reaction to fungal infections, like candida.  I think there is something in this.  Let me explain...

We know that alkaline metals, like zinc and selenium help prevent cancers of the skin and prostate; but exactly how?

Here's some interesting facts:

  • Cancers thrive in acidic environments.
  • Fungi and viruses also thrive in acidic environments.
  • A healthy person has a body PH of about 7.2 (slightly alkaline).
  • As we age, suffer stress, illness and injury, our ability to maintain an alkaline PH declines and we tend towards being acidic.
  • Toxins like arsenic, mercury, aluminium and lead interfere with the alkali elements like magnesium, zinc and selenium.  Most people have these in their bodies nowadays from environmental pollution and sometime medicines.
  • Skin cancer and prostate cancer are very common in people who have been exposed to arsenic and lead and other toxins - people such as builders, farmers and mechanics - and people who use firearms.
  • High lead levels in an engineer who happens to have
    a problem with solar kerastoses.
  • When I do a Hair Tissue Analysis on a person with ailments like warts, acne, psoriasis, candida, athlete's foot, sinusitis and cancers such as prostate, there is often present toxic metals and a profile indicating a problem with zinc in particular and often the presence of toxins like lead.

Similar profiles: Different diseases!

  • When we correct the alkali element imbalances/deficiencies and get rid of the toxic elements, the disease gradually clears over several months.

Fascinating stuff eh?

Now here's the interesting question when it comes to cancer.  If cancer is the body's response to fungus and viral infections that have overwhelmed the body, as some experts claim, then can we prevent and even cure cancer by increasing the body's PH to be in the alkaline range of about PH 7.4?

Below are several videos about the link between cancer and fungal infections.  They are two sets of a series of videos.  While there is some doubling up, please take time to watch them all.  I would welcome your comments which you can post at the bottom of this article.  The oncologist, Dr Simoncini, who appears in the videos is - needless to say - highly controversial within his peer circle.  But that is hardly a surprise.  Many of the inquisitive outliers of history who drove Human progress were persecuted by their peers only to later being proven to be right.  Without such outliers, medicine would still be blood-letting.

As a matter of interest; I started applying Simoncini's ideas to my own skin which has been increasingly plagued by solar keratoses, mostly on my hands, arms, forehead and ears.  These were requiring visits to the skin specialist every two years to have the worst of them removed.  Well, four years have now passed, I have not been back to the specialist and most of the skin lesions are gone.

And here is an interesting website on the subject: http://www.curenaturalicancro.com/  I am of an open mind on this matter for now.  Let's see what eventuates and I would appreciate your opinions and feedback.

The truth about skin cancer

Please take a few minutes to listen to this video by Mike Adams and then read my comments below.

This text will be replaced by the player

Mike Adam's comments are pretty much in line with my views about cancer and sun exposure.  Agencies such as the Cancer Society have no credibility on this subject because they have huge financial stakes in the sale of sunscreens.  They are not about to admit that sun avoidance causes masses of ill health including increased cancer risk across the board.

Example of a "Heart Healthy" diet - Yeah right!
Low fat - low everything.  This young person is
running on empty and vulnerable to
cancer causing free radical damage
The key to using the sun for improving your health is to get plenty of sunlight without getting sunburn.  Mike Adams talks about the nutrition factor and he is dead right.  The Heart Foundation's  "Heart Tick" foods are increasing cancer risk by encouraging people to favour processed foods that are lacking essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids.

Skin Keratosis treatment

I saw your keratosis treatment videos on the web and was impressed. I have 2 quick questions for you.

1. Did your regime of flax oil also get rid of the plain old normal age spots on your hands and face?
2. What makes the NZ flax oil so much better than the flax oils that I can find in a health food store?
3. What time frame did it take to clear up your keratosis?
Andrew

Gary responds:
Andrew, the skin cancers on my ears, hands and face have now all dropped off. I have yet to do an updated video which will show it.  I was going to the skin specialist about every 2nd year to have them burned off and they were getting worse each year which was a huge worry.

Since producing the first video, I have done several other measures which are all contributing to a dramatic improvement in my skin health.

I have been taking daily Agewise Conezyme Q-10 and a powerfull antioxidant called Lifestream Astazan along with the flax oil.

In addition, I have switched from a low fat diet to one that includes fresh natural fats including raw milk which comes direct from an organically reared cow which we have shares in.  This has been an important change in diet.

I have also been taking Active Elements Tissue salts and increased my intake of pyridoxine by way of a natural vitamin B supplement (Nutra-Life Ener B).  Pyridoxine is used as a topical treatment for skin kerastosis.  Treating from the inside to the outside is my choice.

While I used to dab the flax seed onto the affected parts, I no longer do this since there are no areas needing treatment, other than one very small patch on my right hand.

Low fat diet = Bad skin

About Waihi Bush Flax Oil
The NZ flax oil is grown and processed in South Canterbury of the South Island.  It is organic and fresh, delviered direct to my office.  The oil is specially sealed in black plastic bottles and all air is displaced by nitrogen.  The actual life of the oil is at least a year longer than the expiry date so long as the bottle remains sealed and in a cool place.

Flax oil is a lovely oil that does not need to be taken in capsules.  The best value is the 500ml bottles which gnerally can be found for about $30 (less from me).

NB: Still consult a skin cancer specialist if you have suspiscious bits and pieces of skin.  If they turn out to be at the low end of risk, then try this regime for about a year and see what happens.  You can still do this regime even if other treament is necessary.

If in doubt - Cut it out!

Six Simple Steps you can take to Improve your Skin and your Health

Perhaps the most exciting discovery for me during 2008 was how to reverse the scourge on my skin of ageing and a hard outdoors lifestyle.  From about 48 years age, regular visits to the skin specialist were mandated to remove precancerous lesions from my forehead, ears, hands and arms.  Treatment, including burning off of the affected parts were beginning to seem pointless as lesions quickly returtned worse than ever.  My skin was also steadily losing its elasticity.

Dietary deficiencies may be a more important factor with poor skin health than ageing

That was then.  Today, all but the slightest blemishes remain of the skin ker
astoses.  The pre-cancerous lesions have all dropped off.  The elasticity of my skin has been restored.  I have realised that diet has been the principal reason why my skin and health began to deteriourate at such an alarming rate.  This deterioration coincided with my attempts to follow an increasingly "heart healthy" cholesterol lowering diet!

Photos: Clear skin once again despite all the damage

Lower your cholesterol:  Ruin your skin and your health

My health is better than ever; I am running as well as I was 20 years ago and I am able to
mountain bike 4+ hours no problem.

Here is how I improved my skin and my health through six simple steps:
  1. Balance your Active Elements tissue salts - the key ones (not exclusively) for healthy skin being silicaea and calcium fluoride
  2. Ensure your diet is rich in the B vitamins and take extra during times of physical and emotional stress
  3. Have a good intake of all of the fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K)
  4. Have a good intake of a wide variety of fresh, industrially unadulterated oils and fats, including animal fats
  5. Ensure your diet is rich in plant antioxidants
  6. Avoid all processed foods as much as possible, especially those that are fat reduced and filled with carbohydrates and synthetic fillers
Here is how you can do these:
  • Complete an Active Elements Assessment to work out your tissue salts needs
  • Take a daily supplement that contains silicaea, the vitamin B6, zinc and manganese
  • Take a daily B Stress vitamin
  • Get rid of all fat reduced foods from your pantry.  Do not have any fat reduced or homogenised dairy - search out and have plenty of full cream non-homogenised milk.  If you can get it, have raw milk only.  Have a wide variety of oils and fats while avoiding all hydrogenated oils and fats.  A diet that is gnerous in healthy fats and oils will generally be rich in most of the fat soluble vitamins.
  • Have fresh greens daily.  Green vegetables are a rich source of vitamin K which has many health benefits including reducing wrinkles and varicose veins.  Cook greens lightly in fat or oil to release the vitamin K.  Being fat soluble, vitamin K needs to be dissolved in fat, so steaming is not good enough.  If your lifestyle prevents regular greens consumption, then consider having in reserve a high quality supplement such as Load Up Fruitful Greens.
  • Get some cheap frozen dark berries, or fesh ones, and make up a large bowl of fruit salad mostly made of berries and keep in the fridge.  Add some Load Up Berry Brights to enrich the mixture.  Have one to two plates of this daily along with home made yoghurt.
  • Vitamin D: Get regular midday sunlight on your body especially your torso rather than arms, face and legs.  If your are fair skinned, then 5-10 minutes either side is adequate.  If your skin is naturally dark then you will need more sunlight.  On sunless days, especially winter, take a vitamin D supplement.
  • Eat a wide variety of fresh, quality meats, fish and other seafoods, carefully avoiding the intrensively farmed forms and preserved meats.  Include a little animal fat and regular bone broths.
How obsessive is that!
No, don't be obsessive, although you need to be pretty diligent with matters for a while.  All that you need to do is start with about 6-8 weeks of being as consistent as possible with your diet and supplements, then you can relax.  Who cares if you have a day or two of indulgent slacking about here and there with your diet?  Once you have built your internal nutritional reserves up to healthy levels, you then have a safety margin for periods of stress or deficiency (Such as during a Polar trek).

I personally never take supplements all the time.  Instead, I will do a course of this or that supplement (according to need) and then give it a break and perhaps switch to another for a period (again, according to need).  Most of my work goes into ensuring my diet is varied and nutritious with any supplements going on top for special needs such as now while I am doing mountain bike rides of up to five hours non stop.

To my surprise and great delight, as my skin has improved, so has my blood cholesterol (slightly) despite the high fat intake!

Success using flax oil to reduce skin Solar Keratosis

"IT'S TRUE! After living with keratosis on my face for some years, I purchased the oil and to my amazement they're now gone. LIKE MAGIC!! I love you Sir!"

Gary comments
The following is very important for keeping your skin healthy and please forward this article to all of your friends who are on statins and low fat diets.

Its now about 1.5 years since I first noticed an improvement in my skin and over three years since I have been to my dermatologist to get my persistent pre-cancerous skin spots removed (Keratoses - not moles). They have all as good as disappeared without requiring any medical treatment usually consisting of burning them off with dry ice which has caused some scarring over the years. In fact, I have been getting more sun over the last year and my skin is the best it has been for years. How could this be?

About 10 years ago I went onto the low fat diet as most people do in order to reduce cholesterol My cholesterol levels had been creeping up). Now that I reflect on this, I realise that my skin started to deteriorate at about the time my fat intake was curtailed with the worst problem being that my sun damaged areas started to develop thick areas of flakey skin and even ulcertaed raw spots on the back of my hands and on my forehead that stung when exposed to salt water.  I had a few particularly nasty ulcerations on my hands which persisted despite treatments by the skins specialist.

Less than two years ago I switched away from the low fat diet and our family has steadily been working back to a healthy natural foods diet that includes healthy fats, including raw milk. I have really worked on getting fat soluble vitamins and minerals like silica into my daily diet.  I also began rubbing flax oil onto the most seriously damaged parts of my skin - forehead, ears and back of the hands. To my astonishment my skin began to heal.

Right now my skin is the best it has been in at least ten years with the worst sun damage completely clear.  The last skin kerastosis has dopped off my left ear as of about a week ago.  There is no evidence at all of the ulcerated areas on my hands and forehead.  They have completely disappeared.

I put this down to providing the body with a rich supply of Essential Fatty Acids, including cholesterol all of the Fat Soluble Vitamins and Active Elements Tissue salts.  The other thing is to take one's time - like months, if not years for natural therapies to work their magic.

The videos below have been made over a couple of years and show progress made (Look very carefully at the shots of the backs of my hands).  I will produce a new one soon that shows the progress made since then.

An update on using flax oil to reduce solar skin keratoses

Here is the latest update on my efforts to reduce some of the damage that has been done to my skin in my early years of being fried to a crisp in the sun. I have had to resort in recent years to having patches of raw scale burned off by the skin specialist. This has not been ideal because the end result has been scarring of the skin in places. It has been quite a worry at times wondering where this is all going.

Earlier this year I began using flax oil as the base lubricant of my massage oil which I use daily when working with clients. To my delight, I noticed that the skin on the back of my hands was getting better - not worse as one would expect.

I am delighted with the results. I was due to go to the skin specialist earlier this year. There is now absolutely no need at all.

Have a look at the video and compare with the earlier one. I know it is hard to see what I am talking about in the video - but isn't that great news!

Official recommendations for vitamin D are hopelessly outdated

"During the summer months most people should be able to achieve adequate vitamin D (blood 25-hydroxyvitamin D) levels through incidental outdoor UV exposure outside peak UV times. As an example, someone who burns easily in the sun.... may only need 5 minutes of daily summer sun exposure before 11am and after 4pm (to the face, hands and forearms) to achieve adequate vitamin D levels whereas someone who tans more easily or has darker skin... will need more time e.g., up to 20 minutes."
Source: Sunsmart recommendations.

"Evaluation of most relations of health and disease that involve vitamin D leads to the conclusion that a desirable 25(OH)D concentration is 75 nmol/L (30 ng/mL) (3-5). If a concentration of 75 nmol/L is the goal to be achieved by consumption of vitamin D, then why is it so rare for members of the population to accomplish this?

One reason is that almost every time the public media report that vitamin D nutrition status is too low, or that higher vitamin D intakes may improve measures of health, the advice that accompanies the report is outdated and thus misleading.

Media reports to the public are typically accompanied by a paragraph that approximates the following: "Current recommendations from the Institute of Medicine call for 200 IU/d from birth through age 50 y, 400 IU for those aged 51–70 y, and 600 IU for those aged >70 y. Some experts say that optimal amounts are closer to 1000 IU daily. Until more is known, it is wise not to overdo it."

The only conclusion that the public can draw from this is to do nothing different from what they have done in the past. "
Source: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition The urgent need to recommend an intake of vitamin D that is effective
_____________________________
Gary Moller comments:
As the 2nd quotation indicates, the official recommendations are totally outdated and are thus seeling the public perilously short.

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that one can get adequate vitamin D from incidental exposure of hands etc especially if exposure is outside of the midday period. Vitamin D deficiency may now be the most widespread public health issue and one must ask just what it is going to take to get effective action.

The revised safe upper limit for vitamin D dietary intake is 10,000iu per day. So, taking 2,000 per day is safe. In fact, if a blood test shows less than optimum levels, then you could take 6-8,000 per day until blood tests demonstrate healthy levels of this health-giving vitamin. For example, if you want to halve your daugter's lifetime risk of developing breast cancer, get her out in the sun during her adolescence and ensure her diet is rich with vitamin D.

Am I exposing myself to cancer risk?

"Dear Gary
I live in Mississippi, age is 56 and I am very active. If I am forced to be out doors between 1000-1400 for any length of time, I use sunscreen.
Outside these hours, I will not use sunscreen. However, before and after these hours, I like to go out twice a week for 30 minutes, to expose as much skin to the sunlight as I can. I usually only do this when the weather is warmer.
During the cooler months, just my face and hands get the sunlight, whenever I just happen to be outside.
Considering the above, any problems with overexposure, cancer risks?"
__________________________________________
Gary Moller comments:The purpose of getting daily sunlight is twofold:

  1. To ensure vitamin D levels are at optimum for health and fitness
  2. To set the body clock which is again essential for health
You first need to establish your current status:
  1. Determine vitamin D by a simple blood test through your Dr and then compare your results with recommendations for optimum health by going here.
  2. Complete this simple assessment to determine how well your circadian cyle is synchronised and abide by the guidelines for exposure to full spectrum light.
How much sun you require for optimum vitamin D is determined by:
  1. How deficient you are, if at all
  2. Your skin type
  3. Where you live
I have seen no evidence that incidental exposure of the face and hands or even the arms is sufficent to maintain healthy D levels. Read this. To boost vitamin D levels you need to expose large expanses of skin to the sun. If skin has been damaged by repeated sunburn over the years then it is less efficient at producing vitamin D.
If you are deficient, as determined by a blood test, then you need to expose your skin to sunlight 2-4 times a week and only for suffient to get the slightest pinking of the skin. No burning! Sunscreen prevents production of vitamin D and should only be applied to damaged or sensitive parts of the skin, or better still, covered over.
If you are highly prone to freckling or very fair then you must take great care and may only require 5 minutes of full body exposure to the midday sun. If you are olive skinned then you may require 10-15 minutes. If you have very dark skin, your needs may be 40 or 50 minutes - get the idea?
If you over-expose and get a dark tan then the time you need to spend in the sun becomes longer, so excessive tanning is counter-productive and potentially damaging to the skin, so stick to the minimalist approach according to your skin type.
A big factor is where you live, time of day and the season of course! If you live in New Zealand, then your exposure needs are less due to the Ozone Hole over our country allowing in more UV radiation which is the light that produces vitamin D but also causes skin cancer. If you live in a place with high air pollution levels, your exposure time will have to be longer since the pollution filters out the UV. The best time for exposure is midday because that is the time of highest UV. Set an egg timer for 5 minutes and then roll over for the other side and then cover up. Take note of how your skin is several hours later and increase or decrease the exposure accordingly.
I have discussed the matter of skin cancer with a skin specialist and can pass on the following. First of all, if you are olive or dark-skinned like a Polynesian or African, then your statistical odds of developing sun-caused skin cancer are very low, to the point of being negligible. If you are fair, red-headed, and/or freckly then you are at high risk and must take great care not to suffer sunburn.
The best time to measure D levels by a blood test is during Spring and then with the onset of Autumn. These will give your seasonal highs and lows and will show how effective you have been over summer at building your stores of D. I measured my levels in Spring and had a dissapointing 68nmol. I am due to have the test repeated now it is almost Autumn and I expect it be be much higher. Got the idea? Over winter, you work on a D rich diet to maintain the body's vitamin D stores as best you can then repeat the test next Spring.
If you develop a cancer like melanoma then you must take measures to reduce the possibility of developing secondary cancers within the body. One of your best protections against secondary cancer is high vitamin D. So you know what I will be doing if I develop a melanoma - Yes! I will be getting a blood test to assess my current D status.

Is avoidance of the sun causing serious ill-health?

"Gary
I assume that my vitamin D levels are low, they can't not be. I spent 8 years inside in the shop eating my lunch on the run at the back of the shop. I didn't get outside much at all and by the time we got home at 5-30, 6.00 I certainly didn't stop and take in the sun.
I would never have gone out in the mid-day sun for a sunbathe if you had not told me about the vitamin D. I am finding it therapeutic just to lie in the heat, I come back inside rejuvenated." (excerpt from correspondence with a woman who has been experiencing chronic health problems and has been experimenting with several minutes sunbathing per day when she can)
_______________________________________
Gary Moller comments
The Sunsmart and Cancer Society dictums that that we avoid the sun for fear of developing cancer is at the root cause of a national epidemic of vitamin D deficiency in children and adults.

Low vitamin D is implicated in a whole raft of serious chronic illnesses ranging from tuberculosis to depression to mulitple sclerosis and cancer. From trends that I am seeing in my own practice as a natural health consultant we are facing a national disaster.

An added benefit of full spectrum sunlight on the face is the stimulation of the pineal galnd deep in the brain to break down the hormone melatonin. Melatonin makes us tired, lethargic and very grumpy. This explains why bright sunlight is an effective antidepressant.

We are creatures of the light - not of the night.

Sunlight does not cause skin cancer - sunburn does. Let's get that right!
