The intestinal inflammation and pain has gone

"Hi Gary

The stuff you gave me a month ago has worked.  The intestinal inflammation and pain has gone as well as the unpleasant symptoms of ulcerative colitis.  I feel much better now.  I just have to try and stay calm because I think stress triggers it.

When I had colitis before, I had to go to the specialist and was on all sorts of drugs and steroids and it took ages to see any benefit.  A year I think.  This way is much easier."
(Name supplied but withheld)

This feedback downplays just how difficult it can be to get on top of nasty health issues like ulcerative colitis.  The key to success is not getting too tied up with chasing and suppressing symptoms, but with trying, as best we can, to identify the root causes of the ill health.  Everyone is different in their own quirky ways and it is for this reason that one-size-fits-all therapies are more often only partially successful.

In the end success comes to those who are patient and take their time.  Unlike drugs nutritional therapies are slow and subtle and, thankfully, without nasty side effects!

If you have a chronic health issue and tired of taking drugs with unpleasant, harmful side effects, contact me and we will see what can be done with regards to your nutrition and lifestyle:

Client feedback: "There has been a marked improvement in the psoriasis"

"Hi Gary.
Just to let you know that after increasing the Iodine there has been a marked improvement in the psoriasis to the extent that there is very little left.

And the diet has been relaxed with no ill effects.

Now this may be coincidence or the detoxing or everything but what a GREAT result!

So thank you for the surprise Christmas present and our BEST wishes to yourselves for well being and happiness this Christmas.

Cheers"

Gary:
This is not coincidence, in my opinion, but the result of patience, a lot of persistence on the behalf of the person - plus the benefit of scientific testing to guide the process (in this case, the ICL Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis and the Nutrisearch Thyrodine tests).

Psoriasis, by the way, is closely linked with a number of interesting factors, that show up with these tests, including poor thyroid, adrenal and liver function - and toxic element exposures such as lead and arsenic (which explains why psoriasis is very common among people who work with metals and chemicals - farmers, engineers, mechanics, carpenters, electricians, painters and even plumbers.  Think people who use firearms - lead).

There also appears to be a link between psoriasis and fungal and/or viral infections (I think its a fungal infection because it responds to natural antifungal and antiviral nutritional interventions - not drugs).

Iodine has well documented viral and fungal antiseptic properties and is one of the mix of therapies employed.
(I'm about to start generalising; but I am talking about what is the rule and not the exception)

So, why doesn't your doctor (most doctors - I mean - of course there are always a few exceptions)   use these unfunded tests and use these cheap "natural therapies", preferring, instead, to rely on mostly ineffective, expensive patent drugs that are, almost without exception, fraught with numerous and often dangerous side-effects?

The answer is simple:

Medical education, especially continuing medical education after graduation, is dominated by Big Pharma.

Doctors are very busy people: In order to keep practicing as a doctor, a doctor must earn a minimum number of CME points (Continuing Medical Education = CME).  If a course is not certified for CME credits, few busy doctors are going to attend - Full stop!

Big Pharma fund the medical conferences and most, if not just about all, of the CME training courses, they completely, or partially fund most of the medical research projects and they mostly fund the course presenters for CME.  Its pretty much a closed shop for mainstream medicine and it shows in the shunning of natural therapies that can not be packaged into a high-value patent medicine for Big Pharma.

A health practitioner, like myself, is unlikely to be invited to run a course about how to use and interpret the scientific testing that I have become proficient in.  Why?  Because these tests measure a person's state of health, rather than disease (there is a subtle yet important difference), and shows how to keep a person well and without the need for patent drugs.  That's not good for business if you are in the drugs business.
The latest attempt by medicine to counter the growing disillusionment in symptom-driven medicine and the growing trend by their patients to seek "natural therapies" is for a doctor to call oneself an "integrative", or "holistic" medical practitioner.    This is a laughable claim in the majority of cases.  It is a cunning marketing manoeuvre that is akin to the wolf in sheep clothing.  Drugs are then dished out under the pretence that they are "natural therapies", or natural products, or their synthetic analogue, are prescribed in massive and potentially megadoses - Things no responsible "natural therapist" would ever do!

Would you ever give a potted tomato plant a month of fertiliser and water in a single hit and then leave it for a month?

Would you ever give a healthy human being, let alone an ill one, a months worth of vitamins in a single dose?

Of course the answer is "NO!" Because its nuts - you'll kill the tomato plant for sure.  What about the human?  But your holistic/integrative doctor might just do it.

A current example which I find infuriating is vitamin D.  Vitamin D supplementation was resisted for decades by the medical profession, despite the clear evidence that the Sun Smart message had created a global epidemic of vitamin D deficiency-related disorders.

Reason: Natural vitamin D can not be patented. But the resistance has been replaced in the last few years with enthusiastic prescribing of vitamin D.  With the development of synthetic analogues of vitamin D such as Ergocalciferol, doctors are now dishing out megadoses of these drugs (these are not natural forms of vitamin D but potentially toxic analogues) with gay abandon and without any testing of an individual patient's vitamin D status.  What we are talking about is giving a patient a month's wort of synthetic D in a single dose!  One group of medical researchers even experimented with giving elderly women a dose of 250,000iu!  The results can be disastrous to health, as any person with a skerrit of common sense, let alone medical training, will know:
http://blog.garymoller.com/2011/06/is-monthly-administration-of-50000iu.html

This woman's GP prescribed 350,000iu of synthetic vitamin D in a single week:
http://blog.garymoller.com/2012/12/widespread-over-dosing-patients-with.html

This sort of prescribing is nutritional nonsense that has no health benefit while risking serious risk harm.  Its medically indefensible.  Especially if there is no regular testing to monitor vitamin D status.

Iodine Deficiency: 91% of the New Zealand population

Iodine is an element of the universe and, as such, can not be patented as a drug.  The same goes for vitamin C - it can not be patented in its natural form.  So, these are seldom used as a medical therapy, despite the enormous wealth of research documenting their numerous therapeutic qualities.  Nothing will change until a patent version is developed and then the irresponsible rush will be on to capitalise the monetary return.  Incidentally, as soon as drug goes off-patent, it usually disappears off the market and is replaced by the next patented medicine designed to fill the gap.  Even in little New Zealand this is a billion dollar business that almost totally dominates health care.

What treatment is available, via medicine, often is less to do with what is best for the ill patient and more to do with what is good for business.  Sadly.

So, for psoriasis, for example: Because there is not an effective patent drug for the condition, a patient will not be offered an effective natural, non-patent, alternative that deals with the underlying causes.  Instead, they may be prescribed a combination of harmful patent drugs such as Prednisone and Methotrexate - Treating the symptoms and not the causes, while risking generating a whole raft of new problems for the poor patient!

ATRIAL FIBRILLATION, ARRHYTHMIAS AND IODINE (updated 28/11/13)

"Morning Gary and Alofa
Another great day...summer on way.
Guess what? With prayer and since taking the IODINE - I have had no symptoms of heart fluctuations (missed beats when resting!!!)
Awesome aye.... Definitely feeling more energy too.."
(Name withheld)

"I saw the articles about Iodine on your blog. Very interesting - since I have been taking the Iodoral, I've had a stronger immune response to the numerous viruses I catch, and just in the last few days the ectopic heartbeats I'd been having for the last perhaps 8 months have completely cleared up."

Gary:
Such reports of improvement in heart function and energy, by people I am working with, are not mere coincidence. The connection between mineral deficiencies, such as magnesium, potassium and iodine - and various heart problems has been known for many years; but mostly ignored - and often rubbished by some experts, despite the evidence - Choosing, instead to push costly patent drugs that are always fraught with numerous nasty side effects, including feeling terrible.

It is ironic that the active ingredients in some of these drugs are the very minerals, such as iodine, that some mainstream health professionals regard as being the "enemy", or "of little treatment value". The problem, for commercial medicine, is that these basic elements of the Universe can not be patented and are therefore of no commercial value to the cartel that presently dominates health care - So these are trashed at every opportunity by those who control the "System".

Natural therapies do work bearing in mind the following:

  • That need is determined by regular, scientific testing.
  • Natural therapies take time and their effect is usually gradual and subtle.  Think months and years - not days!
  • We all die eventually: The natural trend for measures of health are for them to worsen as one gets older.  At best, one can only hope to slow the inevitable decline into disrepair, to halt it for a time and maybe - just maybe - bring about a significant reversal of one's health.
  • Many medications, such as statins and steroids, interfere with the way nutrients are processed and may negate many of the benefits of nutritional balancing.  Seldom will a medical practitioner consent to gradually reducing a medication and having a nutritional therapy progressively replace it.  Even if it can and has been done by others!
  • The regulations governing the potency of nutritional supplements, such as B complex vitamins and iodine, have them diluted to such an extent to be rendered almost useless from a therapeutic viewpoint.  For maximum benefit, off-the-shelf products may be of insufficient potency.

Atrial fibrillation and arrhythmia

Atrial fibrillation is a favourite subject of mine, partly because I was once consulting a cardiologist about the problem myself and because it is very common among high-intensity and endurance athletes, like runners and cyclists.

Treating adrenal and thyroid disorders with non-hormone glandular extracts, vitamins, iodine and other nutrients are the key to overcoming this distressing and debilitating condition.

If you have problems with an irregular there is hope.  I am that hope: today, at 60 years of age, my heart can rev to well over 170 beats per minute without a single stutter; whereas, several years ago, my heart beat was all over the place, I could barely get above 110 beats per minute without distress and my pace was no more than a staggering plod!

Please read the following article about the iodine connection, written by Bruce West, D.C.

As you have read over and over in Health Alert, there is an epidemic of cardiac arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation in this country. Expert Thyroidologists like Guy Abraham, MD, are convinced that the medical iodine phobia has a great deal to do with this phenomenon. Adequate stores of iodine are necessary for a smooth heartbeat.” -- Health Alert, Vol. 22, No. 12

Too many years ago medical experts determined that high doses of iodine were dangerous, despite a hundred-year history of extremely high doses (in today’s terms) of iodine prescribed by doctors for just about everything—with great results. As is often the case, the flawed results of this study became medical dogma. And today, more than 50 years later, organized medicine still follows that dogma when it comes to iodine therapy.

This is particularly sad for those who do not have access to alternative medical care and are suffering from problems with thyroid and goiter, female reproductive diseases, menopause, diabetes, obesity, liver disease, polycystic ovaries, breast disease, heart disease, and most especially arrhythmia problems.

Missing Link

Iodine supplementation may be the missing link in a good percentage of heart arrhythmia cases, especially atrial fibrillation. The body needs adequate stores of iodine for the heart to beat smoothly. After close to a year now of using Iodine Fulfillment Therapy, I can attest to this fact. Most of the stubborn cases of cardiac arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation that we were unable to completely correct with our cardiac protocols have now been resolved with adequate supplies of iodine added to the protocol.

Even I was fooled for years—fooled away from using adequate doses of iodine. But thanks to bona fide experts like Dr. Abraham, I was able to see the decades-old medical iodine phobia for what it really was—a mistake. Carefully and slowly at first, I started having patients take sufficient doses of iodine. Much to my surprise, there were no problems, just many great results, especially with arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.

Iodine Fulfillment

Iodine fulfillment means the entire body has adequate stores of iodine to function properly. Although iodine can be found in every organ and tissue in the body, some areas utilize more iodine than others. It is not only the thyroid gland that uses iodine but also the heart, breasts, ovaries, muscles, liver, and adrenal glands. We are also discovering that while it may take smaller doses to fulfill the thyroid’s needs, it often takes much larger doses to fulfill the rest of the body’s needs, including the needs of the heart.

These parts of the body are iodine sensitive—that is, if they are starving for iodine, they do not function properly. Since there are so many iodine-sensitive sites in the body, medical experts are finding that iodine therapy can be a “panacea” of sorts for all types of stubborn problems. Just as physicians noted 60 to 100 years ago, iodine therapy can help people with hypo- or hyperthyroid (with or without goiter), fibrocystic breasts, polycystic ovary syndrome, brain fog, constipation, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. In addition, it may prove essential treatment if you suffer from heart disease, arrhythmias, and atrial fibrillation.

In the past, with just about every patient with heart problems, arrhythmias, and atrial fibrillation, I would always use a protocol from Standard Process that included Cataplex F. Cataplex F is a combination of liver extract, omega-3 fatty acids, and iodine. But the typical dose of four to six Cataplex F tablets contains less than one milligram of iodine. While this dose was adequate for most people, some failed to respond, or only got partially better. Old-time physicians used to routinely prescribe up to 100 milligrams daily for all kinds of problems with excellent results. Now I know that they were on the right track.

How Much Iodine, and For How Long?

As I see people with stubborn arrhythmias getting better on 10, 20, 30, and even up to 50 mgs of iodine daily, I know that large doses are sometimes needed by the body. This is what Iodine Fulfillment Therapy is all about. Iodine fulfillment simply fulfills all of the body’s needs for iodine. For those deficient, this may require up to 50 mgs daily for three to four months.

If you have been unable to resolve your heart arrhythmia with one of my protocols, the simplest way to proceed with Iodine Fulfillment Therapy is to add Prolamine Iodine from Standard Process to your heart protocol. Begin with one Prolamine Iodine tablet daily. If there are no problems after a few days to a week, increase the dose to two daily. Continue this procedure, increasing the dose by one more daily until your heart begins to beat smoothly. At this point, you have reached iodine fulfillment. Stay at this dose for a full three months.

Since each Prolamine Iodine tablet contains 3 mgs of iodine, your body may require from 1 to 15 tablets daily for three months. Most people achieve results after 3 to 10 tablets daily. After three full months at your iodine fulfillment dose, begin to cut the dose back by one to two tablets daily each week. If you begin to feel your heart act up again, you have gone past your maintenance dose. Add back one more tablet daily. You will generally end up with a dose of one to four daily—and this dose should be maintained for 12 months. Thereafter, you will probably need even less.

Don’t Take Prolamine Iodine and Amiodarone

Amazingly, while medicine shuns iodine therapy, their most popular anti-fibrillation drug, Amiodarone, actually is iodine in a toxic, sustained-release form. This drug can produce a smooth heartbeat when the body has accumulated about 1,500 mgs of iodine—the exact amount of iodine retained by your body when iodine fulfillment is achieved by natural supplementation with Prolamine Iodine.

Unfortunately, Amiodarone is an extremely toxic form of iodine used by the medical profession. The side effects are often too great (and even life threatening) for most people to endure long enough to achieve a normal heartbeat. In addition, once you stop this drug, your original problem returns. Iodine therapy, on the other hand, fulfills the body’s needs safely, then maintains the smooth heartbeat with a low-maintenance dose.

Because Amiodarone is iodine, you cannot use iodine fulfillment therapy while you are taking this drug. Rather, your doctor needs to wean you off this drug first, so you can then begin natural iodine treatment. In other words, iodine fulfillment therapy is done in place of Amiodarone, not together with it. Amiodarone and iodine at the same time can be dangerous.

If you are on a heart protocol that has been only partially effective, or your arrhythmia or atrial fibrillation problem is stubborn, you will need to test iodine fulfillment therapy. However, you will maintain your original heart protocol with one change. Once iodine therapy has started (even at one Prolamine Iodine tablet daily), you will no longer need to take Cataplex F. Everything else in your protocol remains the same.

The Iodine Test

In the past we held that if it took less than 24 hours for tincture of iodine to disappear from the skin then there was a need for iodine supplementation. Today, I am not so sure this is a good indicator of iodine need. There are just too many variables involved in how quickly the tincture disappears from the skin.

However, tincture of iodine, available in drug stores everywhere for pennies, cannot hurt. Common sense dictates that if the iodine first disappears in a few hours, but stays in place for more than 24 hours after iodine fulfillment therapy, it is a good test. I will leave it up to you if you want to challenge this test.

As far as I’m concerned, I am finding more and more people deficient in iodine—even those I would not have thought would have this problem. At this stage, unless you know you are allergic to iodine (a very rare condition), it would be best to fulfill your body’s needs for iodine if you have any of the problems mentioned in this article.

Simply proceed with caution, slowly and carefully. For anyone setting out on a course of iodine fulfillment therapy, please send us a self-addressed envelope with two stamps and say IODINE. We will send you our full article so you will know exactly how to proceed. The best course of action is to proceed with iodine therapy safely, as there have been some problems reported in certain individuals. I recommend that you proceed only when you have our Iodine flyer in your hands.

Problems and Allergy to Iodine

Few problems have been reported when iodine therapy is accomplished slowly and safely—as outlined in my flyer. Sensitive individuals may experience skin irritation; watery eyes, nose, and saliva; nervousness or headache. Some highly sensitive individuals may also experience a racing heart or irritation of the esophagus. These are extremely rare (I’ve seen very few of these potential problems), and they are easily resolved by either immediately reducing the dose or quitting the iodine.

The greatest problem arises when an individual with a known allergy to iodine tries iodine therapy. This therapy cannot be used by these folks unless their allergy to iodine is resolved.

Resolving an allergy to iodine may be possible with an acupuncture technique called NAET. To find out if your allergy to iodine (or other substances, for that matter) can be resolved, check out the acupuncture site of an old friend of Health Alert, Dr. Devi Nambudripad, at www.naet.com.

The second greatest problem can occur if you try iodine therapy while taking an iodine drug like Amiodarone. This will cause problems that can require medical attention. Do not attempt to take large doses of iodine when you are taking Amiodarone, Pacerone, or Cardarone. If you want to try iodine therapy, your doctor will first have to wean you from these drugs.

In conclusion, if you suffer from heart arrhythmias or atrial fibrillation, or any of the problems listed in this article, keep iodine therapy in mind. If you use iodine therapy, please feel free to send me your results. As I’ve said, I have been nothing but pleasantly surprised with results coming back better and better. And I can finally reach some of those really stubborn arrhythmia and fibrillation cases that just would not respond completely to my protocol containing only a milligram or two of iodine.

It is now beyond a doubt that adequate iodine is necessary for a smooth heartbeat. This ongoing research is truly wonderful news.

Product feeedback from a satisfied customer

A bit of feedback:
The Back Pain book is terrific. An easy read for us non medical types yet you feel like you are getting a better understanding of the problem as you read. The exercises are easy to remember and it is easy to check up you are still doing them correctly after a couple of days. I have been doing a few on the floor watching some great rugby in the ITM Cup. Notice I feel less angst about my back. Such a simple solution to avoid potential problems.

The Salter Scales are also very clever. I think I weighed myself more times in the first week I had them than in the last decade. (I have never had a problem with weight although must admit I weigh a few kilos more than I thought I did in 2001). I will start keeping a record of the results and let you have a look in 2-3 months. I am 188cm 52 years old and weigh 78-79kgs have bone density between 2.6 & 2.8, body fat normally in the 13's somewhere (occasionally drops into the 12's), Body water around 63 on average (never below 60) and muscle maybe an average of about 42 but never less than 40?? (I used the athlete mode but then doesn't everybody!!)

Algotene. Somewhere on your site I read on the holy grail to health and fitness you go through periods of improvement and plateaus. After 3-4 weeks of taking Algotene I think it has me moving off the plateau not in measured performance but just a general feeling of well being, more good advice,

Thanks Paul.

News Flash!! I can walk like normal!

News Flash !! As I got up of my chair last night suddenly I found I didn't have to pause before "taking off" ---I was able to WALK like normal. I am going carefully, but this morning I gardened for a while and am still able to walk !!!!

This is SO exciting and I feel I have definitely "turned a corner" --not just "peeked round" !!!! Will this all be due to the mixture of pills I am on from you ??? Something has got me going !! Anyway had to share my excitement, and progress.  I am sure my "bottom" is not as tight either.
Cheers, and thanks

Note: When referring to her "tight bottom" she is referring to her piriformis muscles being in painful spasm.

When this dear woman in her 70's came to see me she was assisted up the path by her daughter. She was on several medications for blood pressure and cholesterol and not looking too good.  She was having difficulty moving about.

Being on statins and other heart medications may minimally reduce heart disease risk; but the consequently weakened and doddery person will probably stumble and die of the complications of a broken hip.

I helped her down the path after the consultation. What struck me about her was her willingness to consider alternative pathways to improving her health and she has been a model student.

Natural therapies do work when applied with care tailored to the specific needs of the individual.

Success using flax oil to reduce skin Solar Keratosis

"IT'S TRUE! After living with keratosis on my face for some years, I purchased the oil and to my amazement they're now gone. LIKE MAGIC!! I love you Sir!"
"M"

The following is very important for keeping your skin healthy and please forward this article to all of your friends who are on statins and low fat diets.

Its now about 1.5 years since I first noticed an improvement in my skin and over three years since I have been to my dermatologist to get my persistent pre-cancerous skin spots removed (Keratoses - not moles). They have all as good as disappeared without requiring any medical treatment usually consisting of burning them off with dry ice which has caused some scarring over the years. In fact, I have been getting more sun over the last year and my skin is the best it has been for years. How could this be?

About 10 years ago I went onto the low fat diet as most people do in order to reduce cholesterol My cholesterol levels had been creeping up). Now that I reflect on this, I realise that my skin started to deteriorate at about the time my fat intake was curtailed with the worst problem being that my sun damaged areas started to develop thick areas of flakey skin and even ulcertaed raw spots on the back of my hands and on my forehead that stung when exposed to salt water.  I had a few particularly nasty ulcerations on my hands which persisted despite treatments by the skins specialist.

Less than two years ago I switched away from the low fat diet and our family has steadily been working back to a healthy natural foods diet that includes healthy fats, including raw milk. I have really worked on getting fat soluble vitamins and minerals like silica into my daily diet.  I also began rubbing flax oil onto the most seriously damaged parts of my skin - forehead, ears and back of the hands. To my astonishment my skin began to heal.

Right now my skin is the best it has been in at least ten years with the worst sun damage completely clear.  The last skin kerastosis has dopped off my left ear as of about a week ago.  There is no evidence at all of the ulcerated areas on my hands and forehead.  They have completely disappeared.

I put this down to providing the body with a rich supply of Essential Fatty Acids, including cholesterol all of the Fat Soluble Vitamins and Active Elements Tissue salts.  The other thing is to take one's time - like months, if not years for natural therapies to work their magic.

The videos below have been made over a couple of years and show progress made (Look very carefully at the shots of the backs of my hands).  I will produce a new one soon that shows the progress made since then.

Feedback from a happy surfer

Hi Gary

A little acknowledgment for those Kermiitt gloves of yours.

I love to surf spending time here and over sea's. Two years ago I lost a finger in a horse riding accident. I found it hard to believe at first, but the loss of one little finger effected my paddling power.
Less competitive in the line up and catching waves. Even my kids could now out paddle me. I tried wearing neoprene webbed gloves which helped, but were clumsy. In my search for a good product I stumbled across your Kermitt gloves and they are perfect for my need.
Comfortable, light, you hardly know it's there.(I only wear the one on my damaged hand). The Kermitt glove has given me back the paddling ability that a surfer needs to be confident and capitative in the line up and for wave catching.

Thanks

Kevin Anderson.
